Fitzgerald of the Giants is keen to advance to the leadoff hitter position.

While supporters and the media have been urging Giants manager Bob Melvin to switch leadoff hitter Jorge Soler out for the increasingly explosive Tyler Fitzgerald, not everyone thinks that's the best course of action.

in particular, Fitzgerald.

The 26-year-old feels it's far too early to think about making a change, despite being in the best run of his brief major league career and swinging the hottest bat in the Giants' lineup.

After San Francisco's 11-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night, Fitzgerald told reporters at Oracle Park, "Personally I don't really care where I'm at, if I'm in the one or the nine." "I'm content as long as I'm in there.

But it's Fitzgerald, with his elegant hitting swing, who's drawing attention and raising brows throughout the league.

Fitzgerald hit his second home run of the game, a two-run bomb in the sixth inning that put the Giants ahead 7-1. Kyle Harrison, who pitched into the seventh inning to earn the victory, was seated in the dugout.

Harrison remarked, "I was just sitting there, couldn't believe it, after that second home run." As in, 'Is this guy for real? Is he even here on Earth? He's really good.

It's ironic that Fitzgerald is the one who is speaking out the least about this whole thing. He wants everyone to apply a little more pressure to the brakes, even if he recognizes the excitement.

He explained, "It's just one of those weird things that kind of happens." "I'm not really aiming to hit home runs, but I suppose God has other ideas for me. I'm at a loss for words on the subject.

"I just have excellent vision of the ball. I'm seeing everything they throw at me, including the spin. Simply venturing out and attempting to cause harm. When I wasn't playing as much earlier in the year, I was merely attempting to reach base. I'm kind of going up there now, not to hit a home run, but to attempt to cause some damage by swinging a little harder.

Fitzgerald doesn't think there's much of a dispute over whether he should be batting leadoff rather than Soler.

Because he didn't have enough reliable batsman behind him for protection for the majority of the season, opposition pitchers refrained from taking him deep into the zone. But because of the way Fitzgerald is swinging the lumber, pitchers are now more inclined to throw to Soler aggressively because they don't want to face Fitzgerald when there are runners on base.

The Rockies took the hit for it.

Fitzgerald remarked, "Hopefully, I'm helping (Soler) out a little bit right now, but it's a weird sport." "I'm just trying to be realistic, to take things day by day, and not get ahead of myself."
